Verity - Collen Hoover

When I first started reading this book, I had only read 2-3 mystery novels and wasn't very familiar with the genre. If you're an avid mystery reader, you might not love it as much, but if this is one of your firsts, there's a high chance you'll enjoy it. This book isn't one you'd read again and again, as it's more of a one-time experience.

We can judge a book based on its many attributes for me they are the characters, the main plot, emotions, and the ending.

Characters: The character of Lowen is thoroughly explored in the book, while the characters of Jeremy and Verity are mostly revealed through the manuscript that Verity left behind. The children's characters are also solely known through Verity's manuscript. Lowen is an amazing woman, though she does some questionable things. Her character is relatable, and she goes through emotions that readers can connect with. I love Lowen's character the most because she is the most well-written.

Plot: The book centers around an introverted author who finds an opportunity she can't refuse: completing the unfinished series of the renowned writer, Verity. Due to Verity's inability to finish her work, Jeremy, Verity’s husband, invites the protagonist to their home to search for materials that might help her outline the novel. As she arrives at their house, her life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers a personal manuscript written by Verity. This manuscript reveals intimate details about Verity and Jeremy's relationship, along with Verity's complex personality. Unable to resist, Lowen delves deeper into the manuscript and uncovers tragic secrets that the house has been hiding from the world. Filled with murder and twists, this book has it all. The book is solely lovable for its twists and turns. It is a psychological thriller with many twists that will leave you with questions. The plot line is fine, but it's the unexpected developments that keep you engaged.

Emotions: The emotions I felt while reading are hard to discuss without spoiling the book, but you can expect to feel disgusted, scared, surprised, and a bit insane.

Ending: The book has an open ending, so if you prefer stories with clear resolutions, this might not be for you.

Overall, the book is quite good, and I think it’s a great read from Colleen Hoover.
